Genetics will initially determine the amount of calories needed each day for weight maintenance termed as Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR). Each individual has a unique RMR. As we age, RMR will decrease, although an effective eating strategy can increase RMR. The MedGem metabolic test enables our nutritionist to determine your individual RMR, therefore establish an accurate calorie budget specifically for you so you can successfully achieve your weight loss goal. A 60 minute metabolism assessment will include the MedGem® metabolic test and caloric assessment.
The MedGem® metabolism measurement device by HealtheTech is a handheld, portable device that measures oxygen consumption to determine an individual's Metabolism. Metabolism can very widely from person to person. Whether an individual's goals include weight loss, improved fitness, or even weight maintenance, an accurate metabolism reading is the key to success.
How do I prepare?
The MedGem® metabolism measurement may be scheduled at any time but it is important to avoid caffeine and not eat, drink (water is OK) or exercise 4 hours before the test.
